 | | | McDaniels Park Fundraiser | | | The WSC is sponsoring its Grandest Party ever to raise funds to build the pier for the WSC at McDaniels Park.
When: Sunday March 5, 2006
Where: Spartan Bowl McFarland, WI
Time: 1:00 - 6:00 pm
Admission: Free to those that enjoy a good time
Bluecrane Dan and his World Renowned band "The Reverend Dipper Mouth and the Little Muddy Buddies" will be entertaining those in attendance. There will be a silent auction of many great items and services and possibly a raffle of some sort. This event is open to the public and we encourage you to invite any of your crew, friends, relatives(including in-laws), and fellow workers to come and enjoy the good times with you.
In order to make this party a success your participation is needed in several areas:
FIRST - Your attendance at the party with as many of your "crew" as possible. Start talking to them now so they reserve the date. If you need handout flyers contact Lars at lbarber@baird.com or 838-8379.
SECOND - We need member volunteers to help pull this together.
#1 - Auction Day Chairperson - This person will coordinate all of the silent auction
activities - marking the items to be auctioned, setting up the items on the day of
the party, reading the name of the highest bidder, and collecting the money.
#2 - Pre-Auction Item Chairperson - This person will coordinate collecting a list of all of
the items to be sold at the silent auction. This person will not have to store all the
items at his/her residence but has to make sure all items volunteered for the
auction will be there on the day of the party. Lars has volunteered his garage as a
storage/staging space prior to the party.
#3 - Raffle Chairperson - This person would run an on going raffle, like a 50/50 raffle,
the day of the party. John Gaffney will check with the state to see if this is legal
and/or requires a permit.
THIRD - We need you members to get items or services to be used in the silent auction. Look around your residence and see if there are any items in new or like new condition that you could donate. These items do not necessarily have to be nautical in nature. Go to any businesses that you frequent that would be willing to donate goods or services - ie gift certificates, out of season items, etc. Also check with your employer to see if they would donate anything. Think about your own situation - are you able to donate any services? I plan on donating a pontoon ride from Waubesa to the Elks Club on Monona with dinner for 4-6 people up to $100 dollars. But it could be just a ride on your sailboat, or a few hours fishing. Please record the name, phone number, item/service donated, and the value of the donation. This includes your own personal donations.
Our hope is that this fund raiser is a hugh success. If all of us participate and help I'm sure everybody will have a great time. It's a win-win-win situation. We have a great time, the WSC increases its membership by having a pier and slippage for those not living on the lake, and we give back to the community by giving them a fishing pier at McDaniels Park.
Lars will be out of town Feb 21st through Feb 28th, however he says you can put auction items in his garage at 5434 Bremer Rd if you'd like to. I will be in Madison from Feb 25th through March 3rd and will be staying at my daughters in Madison, ph 273-1511 if you need to get a hold of me.
Thank you for all your help and cooperation on this "Pier Party" and if you have questions or want to volunteer to head up any of these areas (first come first serve and co-chairs are OK) please e-mail me at jgaffs@aol.com or Lars at lbarber@baird.com or call 838-8379.
